Aidilfitri 2009 - Syawal 1430

Hari Raya Aidilfirti is just around the corner and Prokhas Novice Toastmasters Club -abbreviated PNTMC is wishing all the members and the Muslim readers a very Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Maaf Zahir & Batin and also happy holiday – to the non-Muslim readers.

But Raya doesn’t end and stop us from conducting our next 10th meeting. Yes people! We have arrived at our 10th meeting. The uniqueness of this time around is, we will be conducting the meeting in collaboration together with another chartered club i.e. Prokhas Toastmasters Club. The meeting will be conducted after the Hari Raya holiday. The session will be held on:

Date / Day: 1st October 2009 / Thursday

Time: 12.00pm till 1.30pm

Venue: Cempaka Room

               12th floor

               Prokhas Sdn Bhd

               Bangunan Setia 1

               15 Lorong Dungun

               Damansara Heights

               50490 Kuala Lumpur

Talking about Raya, will there be a Hari Raya theme? Well…there will definitely be a Raya theme for this special meeting. We call it special because this is the first time we conduct a joint-meeting with our ‘sisters’ and ‘brothers’.

Since it is Hari Raya month, the meeting will be conducted in a Raya mood e.g. Raya table topics, Raya speeches, Raya smiles and Raya talks. Perhaps the only thing that missing is the Raya feast. *sigh*…. But, got to watch out for the weight people!

Hence, together with our BIG smile and our BIG heart, we would like to wish all the Muslims readers and especially to our club members; Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.  Maaf Zahir & Batin – I can’t help it. This ‘phrase’ always comes after the raya wish. Do remember; do not eat too much during this Hari Raya. Otherwise, the pants will not fit you well anymore. Drive safe for those who are traveling back to your home town. Please be extra careful with your car steering and your accelerator. Follow the road safety or you might get some ‘free’ tickets once you are back in KL.

…and happy holiday to the non-Muslims readers.

Oh..oh..balik kampung!!! See you in our next post!

9th Meeting on 090909

Our 9th meeting went quite well. A bit slow turn up at first, but then a total of 22 people turn up including guests. We started our meeting at 12.15pm, with the attendance of our Area P2 Governor, Dr Sabariah Jusoh.

We started with the normal introduction of role players and the explaination of their roles before moving on to table topics session. The table topic session was conducted by TM Ahmad Muhaimin with a theme entitled “Persuasion”. He provided questions based on materials given to the table topics speakers and it was an interesting to see such creativity either from the table topic master himself and the table topic speakers.

Our 9th meeting was conducted slightly different from the previous, whereby we introduced a special session in between of table topic session and assigned speech session. This special session was introduced because there’s quite a lot gap of time for this meeting. What was actually this “Special Session”?

The “Special Session” was actually a session whereby nearly all in attendance try to continue other people’s sentence to make up a story. It was indeed a fun and humorous activity as we could hear the initial thoughts of members and guest when they have to continue other people’s story. The “story” started with “It was already 5.45pm” and ended with “I continue with my sleep”. In between, lots of ideas being thrown into with obvious repeated reference to fasting, “raya”, christmas, McDonald, KFC and even “unacceptable”. We went for two rounds for the story and it was an enjoyable one.

Another highlight of the meeting would be presentation from our Area P2 Governor. She explained on the KPIs to be at least a distinguished club to the members. A was a good presentation which at least PNTMC members have a better idea on the what the club has to achieve as a good club.

Overall, it was a good meeting. We have good sessions and good laughs. The best table topic speaker was TM Aizat Hilfi and the best Special Session speaker was Nur Lisa.

Here are the line up of role players of 9th Meeting:

Toastmaster of the Day: TM Nur Lisa

Table Topic Master: TM Ahmad Muhaimin

Grammarian: TM Azman Syah

Ah Counter: TM Ekka

Timer/Time Keeper: TM Nurrul

Table Topic Evaluator: TM Nor Rafidah

General Evaluator: Area P2 Governor Dr Sabariah Jusoh

It was indeed a good meeting that ended at 1.50pm. Our next meeting is scheduled on 7th October 2009.

Welcome to Prokhas Novice Toastmasters Club!

Prokhas Novice Toastmasters Club (“PNTMC”) is established since 2nd June 2009. Between now and then, 8 meetings have been conducted whereby 95% of its members have presented their Ice Breaker speech.

Being a “Novice” as the name suggested, we are still learning on exploring our hidden potential that have yet to be discovered. Perhaps, thorughout this journey, we will know ourselves better besides having projects to be at least Competent Communicators and Competent Leaders.

Can PNTMC do it? We do not know as we have to see it ourselves..

Want to witness our progress? Welcome to our club! :)
